nearfield is a regional magazine and website dedicated to showcasing all the weird, wonderful and down-right awesome events that the South West has to offer - from live music and food festivals to theatre, markets and community gatherings. With both the bi-monthly print magazine and the online events listings, Nearfield is a central hub for residents and visitors looking to discover local experiences and for organisers and venues to promote their events.
To re-design their current website. While the print magazine had a strong personality, the website didn’t reflect the same energy. We wanted to create a user experience across desktop and mobile that matches and enhances the brand, helps users to find new and interesting events in their area and encourages them to join and support nearfield.
A website that takes its rightful place amongst the powerhouse of the nearfield brand. The final website has captured the essence of the brand, bringing together elements of the print magazine to create a consistent user experience both online and offline. Looking for design cues between the magazine and the website meant we could harmonise the image ratios and the approach to copy to maintain the experience. We’ve introduced a simplified navigation system, super charged the search functionality and brought back a classic in the form of a masonry layout for events.
